Der befestigte Ort wurde nach dem Synoikismos von Megalopolis angelegt und erneut als fränkische Festung genutzt. In dem Band werden die archäologischen Baubefunde (Stadt- und Akropolismauern und -tore, Häuser, eine ionisch-dorische Stoa) und ihre Rekonstruktion sowie eine neu gefundene Theorodokie-Inschrift vorgelegt. Ausführlich wird die antike und hochmittelalterliche Geschichte des Ortes, seine Lage und Aufgabe im Wegesystem zwischen Elis und Zentralarkadien sowie ihr archäologischer Kontext in der Region herausgearbeitet. 01 02 In Arcadia, on the slope of the Lykaion Mountains and high above the Alpheios Valley, lies the ancient city of Theisoa. The fortified town was laid out after the Synoikismos of Megalopolis and was again used as a Frankish fortress. The volume presents the archaeological building remains (city and acropolis walls and gates, houses, an Ionic-Doric stoa) and their reconstruction as well as a newly found Theorodokian inscription.
